Ronan Cusack reports that there was no let up on the good fishing on Lough Mask this week, with lots of happy anglers reporting some fantastic sport. The dry mild conditions saw a slow drop in water levels and good hatches of small chironomids beginning to appear in sheltered bays. Well-known Ballinrobe angler Tony O’Donnell and his two angling companions, Sean O’Loughlin and Johnny Chestnut, fished wet flies from Rosshill on Monday and Tuesday last and they had a total of 10 fish over the 2 days (best fish 3lbs). Frankie Guilfoyle and his father also fished from Rosshill on Tuesday last and they had 6 fish for their day (best fish 3lbs). Sean Maloney, Ballinrobe, had a 3 day session with angling partner Eugene Fagan earlier in the week and they had 11 good fish for the 3 days, all on wet flies (best fish 2lbs). Liam Conroy from Tourmakeady fished on Wednesday and he had 3 fish for his day (best fish 1.5lbs). Cyril Duddy and Kevin Beattie Ballinrobe had 7 fish on 3 separate outings this week (best fish 1.5lbs).
Overall Mask is fishing extremely well and well worth a visit.
