ANGLERS are the latest outdoor enthusiasts to be caught up in a crime wave, which is sweeping rural areas.
Cars, 4x4s and other vehicles parked at prime salmon and trout locations such as Lough Conn and the Moy System in north Mayo and Loughs Mask, Carra and Corrib further south have been targeted in recent weeks.
Amongst the items stolen by the smash and grab raiders are sat nav systems, car radios, handbags and other valuables.
Ballina based Superintendent Pat McHugh said at the weekend there had been a number of break ins to vehicles in the Lahardane area in recent weeks.
