Plenty of 'bows and browns on Lough Lene opening day

Yes the trout season has started on the Midland Lakes, and I spent a few hours trolling on Lene with friends on opening day. It was a cracking day weather wise, and the fishing certainly matched the weather. There was a huge number of anglers out on Lene, and plenty of top quality Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout came on line.

met new N.A.R.A President Andrew Boyle while having lunch, and had arranged to take a photograph of my fellow Midlander with his Chain of Office out on the Lake. We wish Andrew all the best on his term in office. Better known as Andy he was fishing with Angling pal Mick McCormack and they had a blinder of an opening day on the fly. I also met John Gallagher and Peter McCann, and they had boated a few lovely rainbows on wets and dry fly. Local Angler Larry Pointon also ventured out, and I caught Larry on camera with a beautiful coloured Brown Trout.
