John Connolly, PRO with the National Coarse Fish Federation of Ireland, reports on the Junior All-Ireland coarse fishing competition…

The Junior All-Ireland took place in Killykeen Park, Cavan on Saturday 27th July. Organised with Killeshandra Angling club, 20 anglers from north and south of the border took part. Divided into 3 groups, Senior, Junior and Novice, some good weights were caught. The area where the seniors were fishing produced the best weights.

All anglers were supplied with caster and maggots by Irish Bait and Tackle. Prizes, supplied by Southside Angling, were presented in Collettes pub in Killeshandra.

The winners were as follows:

Novice:

  • 1st Darryl Mason 1.69kgs
  • 2nd Jordan Chambers 0.94kgs
  • 3rd Cillian Dolan 0.89Kgs

Junior:

  • 1st Ryan Brady 2.92Kgs
  • 2nd Roisin Bohan 2.84Kgs

Senior:

  • 1st Jamie Edwards 9.9Kgs
  • 2nd Robert Smithers 7.7Kgs
  • 3rd Lee Harris 7.12Kgs
  • 4th Mark Connolly 4.84Kgs

Many thanks to Irish bait and Tackle, Southside Angling, Collettes Pub and Killeshandra Angling Club for all their help and contributions on the day. And a big thank you to all the anglers, parents and coaches for making the event so successful.
