Managing water quality in Ireland’s freshwater fisheries formed the core of Trevor Champ’s long career in the inland fisheries sector. He was passionate about his work and contributed very significantly to understanding the extent of fisheries habitat issues in many parts of the country. It was not surprising that Trevor followed a career path in aquatic environment given his childhood in Co Kerry, where he fished the River Laune for salmon and sea trout.
After secondary school he went to UCD and obtained his BSc in zoology and biochemistry in 1966 and an MSc in 1968…
