Co Leitrim has long been a respected destination for the UK and European angling tourist. However, the angling market has changed and a fresh approach is now needed for the county to grow a strong tourism base from the angling market once again.
A new organisation Leitrim Angling Community Alliance has been formed to support a major marketing project to re energise and grow Leitrim’s angling sector. This will involve creating a new dedicated Leitrim angling website that is smartphone enabled and will be updated daily. It will feature angling specific accommodation and fishing resources; producing a Co Leitrim angling brochure and specialist press advertising; participating at international trade shows and organising familiarisation trips by angling agents and journalists. The initiative will also see the creation of a calendar of local angling events and festivals across the county alongside other key marketing campaigns….
