Joe Ryan and friends fished a whole day at Lough Ramor yesterday. The anglers started their day at 8.30am and endured some torrential showers and strong winds. For a long time the closest Joe came to a pike was when he saw one landed at 12 o’clock on a floated dead bait.
Ever patient, Joe fished on and after a long wet day at about 4 o’clock he heard the reel scream. He ran to the rod and struck hard to find himself attached to a fine pike. When she was finally weighed she came in at 20.5 lb, a PB for Joe. The pike was caught on a frozen roach fished on the bottom – secret ingredient; dressed with mackerel oil.
Joe and Co fished on and saw one more pike caught at about 4.30 which they estimated to weigh about 14-16 lbs.
