Lindsey Clarke reports that the Drowes was up again at the weekend which saw fishing improve…

The Drowes has risen at last and is now reading 0.6 metres on the gauge at the Four Masters Bridge which gave good water levels at the weekend. With the better water levels the fishing picked up and there were some 20 salmon caught at the weekend. These were mostly coloured fish but there were some fresh grilse caught too. A visiting French party recorded 8 salmon caught and some dozen fish hooked & lost. These were mainly in the 4 to 5lb bracket with the odd bigger fish. Another rod reported 3 grilse caught and released on shrimp for his days fishing. The Drowes holds its water levels well so next week should produce a few fish.
