04/03 – 10/03: Conditions were decidedly wintery over the week on the lough and only a few ‘hardy souls’ ventured out into the cold. John Flanagan reported an 8lb salmon caught trolling in Flanagan’s Bay at 5.00pm on Tuesday.
Two salmon were recorded from the Rossinver Fishery. This included the first salmon of the season for the fishery. This was caught on Saturday, by Niall Sweeney.
The salmon weighed 8lb salmon and was caught trolling off Wards point. Niall’s boat partner for the day, Noel Johnston reported another good trout of 5lb 8oz caught. On Sunday, Rodney Benson logged a 7½lb salmon caught off Ward’s Point and Noel Johnston reported another good trout of 5lb 8oz caught with this fish being released.
