Carty’s Land and Sea Sports owner Seán reports from the Erne Estuary for the week ended June 10th:
Fishing this week on the Erne estuary in Ballyshannon was well up on previous weeks with most anglers out on the water reporting good fishing and some even getting 10 or more fish for their efforts . Even the bright warm conditions didn’t seem to turn the fish off and all methods proved to be effective . As with recent weeks the best method was freelining sandeels but there was also plenty of fish landed on the fly and on lures as well . One angler from Co Tyrone reported catching a fine trout of over 5lb in weight on the fly which he released to fight another day and on the same evening (Friday) an angler being guided by www.northwestanglers.ie had 4 good trout and lost about 10 more all on our extra small sized sandeels.
