Vincent Appleby from Eureka Lodge reports that last week was wild and wind on Currane and the fishing was not easy. Few boats were out and veryew salmon were caught. Over the weekend the fishing improved and the early part of this week has seen some more good salmon fishing reported.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 2013
All the head lines come from the Bungalow on the North side of the Lake, first in the striking zone was Mr. Michael Shultz of Berlin Germany, who caught a fine 9 lbs. Salmon on the troll, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea. And www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com was also in great form in the fly department with Mr. Sean Smith of the UK. He caught a cracker of a Salmon on the fly weighing in at 10.5 lbs.
Even before his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com got on the oars to manipulate the boat, in full view of his fellow fly Anglers, my noble gentlemen jumped about six times, and Sean’s reel was echoing across the water, and it wasn’t long before Sean’s Gillie netted my noble Gentlemen, and there was one hell of a grin of satisfaction on their faces and as especially as it was their last cast of the day. Wind NNE light and very cold this morning with heavy showers at times.

are the Salmon and Sea Trout results from the premiership, Salmon and Sea Trout UTD won Anglers UTD 0 and not surprising that my Noble Salmon and Sea Trout won the day, because it was a bitterly cold day on the big Lake/Lough Currane, and with a strong NNE wind blowing, with heavy showers.
MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013
It was a wild day on Lough Currane, with a strong WNW blowing across the Lake, even with all the elements against my Noble Anglers, Mr. Markus Kruse of Germany, fishing out ofwww.lakelandshouse.com caught a fine 10 lbs. Salmon on the fly, and for the rest of we so called anglers, we failed miserably in our duties in all departments. Wind as already stated and just for the record, heavy showers with hail stones at times.
SUNDAY, MAY 12, 2013
All the head lines go to Mr. Stefan Kuth of Germany, and for good reason, he caught a cracker of a Salmon in the 12 lbs. class on the fly, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com now for quote of day, I asked Frank where they caught the Salmon? Frank replied, that’s for me to know and for you to find out and just for the record I didn’t. Wind NW then veered W this evening with showers throughout the day.
SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2013
There was some great action on Lough Currane today, so lets get to the action. Ireland’s number 1 specimen Sea Trout hunter, Mr. Sean Smith of the UK kept his reputation in style today, when he caught a fine 6.lbs.5oz Sea Trout on the fly at Church Island, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com.
Now to the Salmon department, Mr. Michael Shultz of Berlin Germany and his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com caught a fine 8 lbs. Salmon on the troll.
Now to the fly department, Mr. Alistair Dunbar of Scotland and his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com take all the headlines when they caught 2 fine Salmon, weighing in at 11 lbs and 9 lbs. respectively.
Wind NW fresh and very cold with good cloud cover with heavy showers.
That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville fishery.
No Spin No Fly’s just facts.
