Eire Bass guide Richie Ryan  had a pleasant surprise at the very start of an outing in Cork Harbour when two tourists hooked up a bass each on their first cast ! Neither clients had caught a bass before so that was even more special.

Double hook up for Megan and Adam

Our photo shows a double hook up by Megan Ballock , USA and Adam Brooks London .Two fine bass on his secret weapon and the other on a Megabass X140. Megan was not keen to hold her catch, hence the bass in the net. Two happy tourists ! The Harbour is fishing very well at the moment with a lot of bass reported on the recent high tides. Richie has had bass to 7lb on fly recently. The pollack fishing has also been providing plenty of entertainment, and though the fish have been mostly hitting the 2lb mark the number of them caught has kept clients busy. On one recent outing close to 70 fish were landed – all on fly!

About 3 Lbs on a bread fly this evening. Difficult fishing with a lot of suspended weed. Very enjoyable nevertheless.

Richie has also had success with the local mullet on fly and on Monday evening he had a fine fish of about 3lb despite difficult conditions.
