Shaun Hegarty reports that Curragh Springs has Re-Opened after closing in June due to the warm weather. Shaun tells us that they decided to close the Fishery because of the very warm water temperatures, mainly to give the fish every chance of survival and not to stress them.

Initial reports this week are that the fish are in great condition and fighting harder than ever with many taken on small dry fly and Daddy Long legs.

Curragh Springs is a natural Spring fed Lake with crystal clear water plus a natural feeder burn. There is an abundance of insect life and an abundance of aquatic life including Nymphs, Buzzers, Fry, Minnow, Stickleback, Beetles, Snails, Flies, Amphibians and terrestrials which encourage the Trout to be free rising even on the coldest and dullest of days, giving excellent surface sport.

Just For Our Anglers

We realise like last year both fishing and particularly, times are even harder at the moment, fuel prices have not come down. So once again this year here at Curragh Springs we will try to help a little by Subsidising your travel costs Monday- Friday from 1st. November. We normally charge Euro 30 per person for a full days fishing, 3 or more persons per car will now get a full days fishing Catch & Release for Euro 20 per person for the winter months. Our central location and close proximity to the M7 and M9 should make Euro 30 travel a long way.
