Brilliant autumnal weather has brought anglers out in large numbers once again to give Cashel a throw with just over one week to go before our annual competition.
Niall Cassidy (Derry), on catch and release ticket used small gold head nymphs to release a brilliant thirteen trout. Shaun Cottle and Stephen Gurney (Limavady) banked a total of twelve trout between them with Stephen getting nine of the trout. Shaun did very well banking three trout on this his first time ever fly fishing for rainbow. Derry’s Mark McLoone used little bibios and Wickham’s fancy to bank a total of fourteen trout, two of which he killed which weighed 4lb 11ozs. Paul Ford also from Derry banked three averaging 3lb each which fell to suspender buzzers and diawl bach. Portstewart regular, John Skelly, landed one trout and lost many which were taking small dries. Sean Mc Dermott (Feeny) accompanied by two of his sons, Kevin and Shane, thoroughly enjoyed their day out using montanas and other small nymphs which landed Sean a lovely marked rainbow for tea that evening. Colin McDonald and Stephen Gurney (Limavady) had a real cracker of a day catching big trout up to 6lb which fell to buzzers on a floating line. Stephen got nine trout to the bank while Colin got two in a couple of hours. James O’Neill (Portglenone) also got a brilliant nine which took small dries.
Facilities include B&B; tackle shop, tea room with catering facilities, rod hire, discounted rates for groups of anglers and children accompanied by adults who are also fishing.
