On Saturday October 12th we lashed flies out on Owel and Ennell on the last day of the trout season. Some super trout were produced from both lakes, and it was certainly a case of quality over quality.

On Ennell Mullingar Angler Mark Dunne rattled the scales with a huge brown trout of 6.982lbs, it was a super end of season fish. Niall Kenny finished 2nd on Ennell with 1.752lbs, and 3rd Mark Kenny 1.694lbs.  On Owel Peter McGlynn was in top form and boated a fine trout of 3.266lbs to take Top Rod from Owel.Barry Lenihan was 2nd with 2.532lbs, and 3rd place went to Dave Canning 1.762.  Presentation took place back in Caffreys Lounge with Stan McKeown presenting the Owel winners with prizes, and John Tyrrell presenting Ennell Anglers. Both Lakes are closed for Trout fishing till March 1st, but will remain open for pike and perch fishing all winter.
