With the more settled weather recently water levels have dropped in many of the lakes in the Monaghan area. One such lake is Lough Muckno and this is good news ahead of the IADA winter league match scheduled for this Sunday 30th November on Black and Yellow island. Although there is still some water on the causeway onto White Island, it was accessible today. Regular visitor to Lough Muckno, Ewan Weed from Northern Ireland, fished on White island today and had some nice fish including roach and hybrids on feeder. Although there were lots of bites fishing could still only be described as tough. Maggot produced most of the fish.

Another angler was trying his luck on the Gas lake but was not having much success early in the session on float fished maggot. Fish were topping but were difficult to tempt. Winds were very light and temperatures were around 10 degrees.

At South Lodge fishing was very good although fish were small. It was a bite a chuck fishing maggot at 30 turns. The place was solid with small fish. Things are looking good for the weekend match and we look forward to hearing how things go. According to Ewan around 40 anglers are expected to take part.
