A little bit of help brings a fish for the angler

On Friday 6th June Killeshandra Anglers Club organised a day on Killeshandra Town Lake for the Cavan Sports Partnership and their Sports Disability Programme.  The programme aims to increase participation of people with disabilities in sport, fitness and physical activity and is an initiative of the Irish Sports Council.

ACI/Coaching Ireland trained coaches Jimmy Murphy, Ted Sweeney, Michael Bannon, Paddy Murphy and Mark Fullen provided help and instruction for three groups of six from the National Learning Unit Cavan, Rehab Cavan and Day Activation Unit Cavan.

Jimmy Murphy says ‘This was the most rewarding day we have ever experienced; to see these people so happy was just brilliant!  We hope to see increased funding made available for this kind of project and more groups like this on the bank in the future’
