The Waterford & District Coarse Angling Club juniors had their final event of the summer at Clashganny lock in Co. Carlow between Graiguenamanagh and Borris. The juniors were given coaching in whip, pole, feeder, waggler and predator fishing and the chance to have a go at each discipline. Whip and feeder were the most popular and successful methods with plenty of small dace plus some perch, roach and hybrids showing.

After the fishing there was a presentation of medals for the winners of the previous match and silver salvers for the top three in this years junior league. There was also the inaugural presentation of the Alex Thomassin junior perpetual trophy to the overall champion. There were goody bags of bait and tackle for everyone and posters, books, keyrings and information cards provided by Waterways Ireland and Inland Fisheries Ireland. Bait was kindly provided by Oaklands lake. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their support and every one who helped make a success of this first year of the junior league and hope to see a few more youngsters giving it a go next year.
