Yesterday Friday 11th April was a changeable but nice day on the Town Lake in Bailieboro, Co. Cavan. Fishing buddies Carl Mc Dermott, Brian O’Neill and and Ian McFadden from Dublin were having a relaxing day out on the lake. The lads were pike and coarse fishing and although all good fun the competitive atmosphere was more than palpable, fish meant bragging rights. Blanking was not an option. The lads hae had some nice success recently and hoped to keep the run going. Pike were evident and active in the shallows and the lads had a number of runs and dropped runs. First fish however went to Carl who had a number of roach on feeder. Red maggot done the job and roach, hybrids and skimmers have all been taken recently. It was great to meet up with the lads who showed that there is much more to fishing than catching. Good buddies sharing some quality time together having that all important bit of “craic”.
