The Tourism Development Association is delighted to announce a brand new event for the competitive Pike Fishing calendar. The new event will take place on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of April 2014, on Upper Lough Erne. The event will be boat based, with either 1 or 2 persons per boat. Cash prizes will be awarded per boat, with the winning boat taking a guaranteed £1,500 and second placed boat taking £1000. Additional entry fees will make up the remaining prize pot, up to 15 cash prizes, dependant on the number of entries.
The event is supported by the Erne Anglers Club, DCAL and Fermanagh District Council, who are also involved in organising the event. Barry Flanagan, Tourism Project Officer for the Upper Lough Erne Region comments “Following the successes of the World Championships Lures event and the Lough Erne Pike Classic in 2013 there is no doubt that Lough Erne is a World Class angling location and we aim to showcase a new section of Lough Erne to our visiting anglers. The stunning location has huge potential for a competitive Pike fishing event with local anglers and holiday maker’s alike reporting impressive Pike caught in this area regularly last year.” The event will be based at Lisnaskea Boat Club, where parking will be provided and the boats will be launched. Food and beverages will also be provided in the Club House over the course of the weekend.
