John McLaughlin reports from the Lackagh Salmon Fishery, Creeslough:

I have reports of 2 more fresh fish from the Lackagh since my last report.

Creeslough Club member, Tony Mc Gilloway had a lovely fresh fish of 8 lbs on Friday the 28th of March. The fish fell to a Willie Gunn tube on the Grilse pool.

Visiting angler, Harry Stewart from Limavady, Co. Derry had a fine fish, estimated at 11 lbs from the Garden pool last Friday the 4th of April. Harry’s fish fell to a Garry Dog Tube fly with the water reading 8 on the guage.

The water is holding at 6 on the guage with more showers from the West forecast.

Under the IFI legislation, the entire Lackagh system is strictly catch & release for salmon angling.

The only allowed methods are spinning or fly fishing with single barbless hooks and stictly no bait fishing.

Permits for the Lackagh fishery are available from Sweeney’s filling station, Termon.
