Salmon fishing at the Moy Fishery was a quiet affair this last week with only a few fish reported. A mix of grilse and some bigger fish are in the system now and some 3lb class fish were taken on spinner.
The Foxford Salmon Anglers water (www.foxfordsalmonanglers.com) had 14 Salmon for the week, notable ones were a 12lb Fish caught by Jim Martin Snr. on worm, Martin King’s 11.5lb fish on worm and Herbert Zettel had a nice fresh run fish of 8lbs also on worm.
Elsewhere in the Foxford area spinning accounted for a few salmon in the 10lb class at Mount Falcon and at the Foxford Fishery but worm was the successful method at the Scott, Knox Gore fishery at Coolcronan, at Armstongs, at the Rinanney Fishery and at Gannons.
A variety of methods caught salmon at Cloongee and the East Mayo Anglers, Balintemple where fish fell to fly, spinner, worm and bubble and fly. Visiting angler Bertrand Savery, France, had a 14lb salmon at the East Mayo Anglers (www.eastmayoanglers.com) fishery on spinner.
Moy Estuary
Visiting anglers from 6 countries fished on Pegasus with Judd Ruane last week, namely, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Holland and the UK. The total catch was 126 sea trout with 42 retained. The arrival of a mild southerly, late in the week, brought a good head of sea trout into the estuary and some of the local anglers enjoyed good results as well.
