Charter skipper and guesthouse owner Mark Gannon reports from Courtmacsherry on deep sea fishing for his clients fishing on his two charter boats.

Last week our charter boats were fishing on the deep reefs, Sharking, inshore reefs and bassing  with live bait.

Fishing on the deep reefs produced some good sport with conger to 15 kg, nice cod, Ling to 10 kg, several bullhuss to near specimen and good sized Pollack.

The shark fishing was slow at the start of last week with only 5 runs with 2 sharks landed the heaviest a fish of 2.2 metres released at the side of the boat, the other shark was aprox 20 lbs, a good bonus was a specimen garfish for Patrick foster.

Later in the week the Sharking was much better with 10 runs,with 6 blues landed,the heaviest a fish of 2.25 metres with a girth of 95 cms.

Inshore we had good pollack to 10 lbs. using live bait, ling to 16lbs and conger to 20 lbs, mackerel still very plentiful.

The bass fishing in the Estuary has been good with the “Lady Patricia “landing fish to 11.2 lbs and fish to 8lbs from the “Lady Louise” all on live bait

The mackerel are still very plentiful in the estuary with good sport at high water from the pier and pontoon area.
