Charter skipper and guesthouse owner Mark Gannon reports from Courtmacsherry on deep sea fishing for his clients fishing on his two charter boats.
Fishing the last while in the Courtmacsherry area has been good even though the weather conditions have been testing at times,with west to southwest winds and the strongest tides of the summer. Blue Sharks to 2 metres, good sport with garfish in the bay, conger to near specimen weight, pollack on the shads to 11 lb., good Thornbacks in the shelter to 12 lb. with plenty of good dabs, chub and red gurnard. The selfdrives have been bass fishing with limited success on the lures and live bait still the best method, several good bass taken at Timoleague and at the boathouse on rag worm,one fish was over 8 lb.
