Luke Aston gives a run down on the last few day’s fishing out of Carrigaholt; on the Shannon Estuary and off Loop Head…

25/09: We did a short drift this morning north of the Loop. Lots of Pollack but also lots of Codling. We were even getting double shots. So great to see what looks like a great year class of Cod.

Cod
Cod like this give anglers hope of good winter fishing

27/09: Nice to see a Hake being caught today. Indeed we have got a few over the last week. Conditions in General were a bit harder today with a far sea swell coming in.

hake
A few hake have been caught recently

28/09: Great day’s fishing today. Started with some big mackerel at the Loop and then very steady fishing on the reefs out west. This lad was doing his first days sea fishing and enjoyed it. Plenty pollack, cod and ling and with some pollack up to 11lbs.
