Guide Richie Ryan of www.corkbass.com  was present for the start of the bass tagging program for 2014. Dr. Tom Doyle and Damian Haberlin were keen to get started and managed to tag three bass in Cork Harbour this week. One of the bass was a specimen hooked by well known angler Jim Clohessy. The data from last year is being collated by the team and should be of great interest to all anglers when available.

Meanwhile Richie reports some good bass fishing he had in the harbour recently. The guide had four bass on the fly in a short session and three on lure a few days later. He calls this research ! So it’s good to hear the bass are back in the harbour again.
While out today Richie caught 6 fine bass locally in the morning and Pat O’Shea had 50% of last years total by mid April.  Cork’s looking good!

This fish (+20 years old) is now back swimming with a transmitter fitted as well as an ID tag. Scale samples were taken which will determine the exact age as well as genetic samples.
A good evening on the water!

Read about fishing…

Jim Clohessy and some of Ireland’s finest angling journalists decided that they would like to establish an online presence where they could continue to publish articles that would be of interest to all anglers wherever they are based (following the demise of Irish Angler magazine), but of course with a distinctly Irish flavour. So that’s what you get at Topfisher.eu.
