A number of Inland Fisheries Ireland or ESB owned fisheries have re-opened in recent days as water temperatures have fallen with the drop in air temperature.
The following fisheries are now open, with permits available via the IFI permit shop.

- Cloongee Fishery, River Moy, Mayo
- Ballyvary Fishery, River Moy, Mayo
- Laune River Beats 1&2 near Killarney, Kerry
IFI Warm Water Protocol: When water temperatures at fisheries exceed 20°C, fisheries can be closed to all angling, including catch & release. These closures minimise extra angling-related stress on fish at a time when they are vulnerable to potentially lethal thermal stress.
The ESB are maintaining an advisory notice which announced the closure of angling on ESB owned freshwater fisheries due to the elevated water temperatures.
ESB permit sales have ceased for the unknown duration of this fishery closure.
The fisheries that remain affected are the Shannon, Lee and Liffey catchments.
