Breffni Challenge 2015
The Breffni Challenge 2015 took place over five days on Rockfield, Kevins Shore, Corfree, Gulladoo Steps and Gowna Tessas Shore. Match results have not been as good as previous years because water temperatures have been much lower than other years but fishing was fairly good considering difficult conditions. The results are as follows:
- 1st Kevin Rowles 25.430kg
- 2nd Peter Jones 22.500kg
- 3rd Roy Toulson 20.450kg
- 4th Nick Harrison 18.650kg
- 5th Bob Brown 18.410kg
- 6th Nick Speed 18.370kg
A full round up from all the lakes and rivers
Fishing has improved generally in the last few days. Local anglers fishing Carrs Lough report 95lb bags with plenty of Bream and some Hybrids. Percys Shore Dereskit is showing good Tench while good mixed bags of 40/50lb at bridge at Killykeen. Good bags of Roach are being caught on Aughabawn Lake up to 40lb. Bags of Bream and Tench up to 50lbs are being fished at Little Drummany.
Good mixed bags including good Roach are being caught at Trinity Lake also Tawlagh Lake producing good mixed bags. A club match was held on Town Lake Killeshandra with good mixed bags up to 25lb. The river at Belturbet is also producing good bags of Roach and Perch. Local anglers report good fishing on Lough Scur and plenty of bream in the canal Ballinamore area. Fishing on Bream Rock, Lough Major and Lough Sillan is producing good mixed bags of fish up to 40/50lb with some 7lb Bream. Drumlona is also reported to be fishing well.
