The fourth round of the Naas and District Winter League took place in Carlow town on Sunday 8th Feb. The day began with freezing fog which started to lift around noon but came back with a vengeance soon after. This made fishing very uncomfortable and didn’t help with catch rates. The guys fishing the town park had fish from the beginning but it died off after an hour only to return for the final hour of the match. Alas everyone else struggled to find any fish at all. Several blanked and most others got just a few fish. It was very tough fishing indeed!
The results are as follows
Section 1. 1st Alan Doyle with 12lbs 2nd Owen Lynch with 6lbs 6oz
Section 2. Joint 1st Peter Walsh and Marius Matuiza with 5lb 4oz. 3rd was Padraig O’Riordan with 1lb
Section 3. 1st Paul McLoughlin with 11oz, Joint 2nd Eddie Long and Deividas Noreika with 5oz.
Section 4. 1st Sean Campbell with 3lb 10oz, 2nd Gary Quayle with 1lb 10oz.
Weather conditions and high pressure didn’t make fishing easy by any stretch of the imagination but as always we had great craic and banter on the bank and it was great to be out.
See you on the bank soon.
