With the method of feeder fishing trending the national coarse angling federation introduced a new event to their All-Ireland Championship series to look for Ireland’s Junior Feeder Fishing Champion. Organised by the NCFFI’s Gabolino Team Ireland Feeder Manager, Brenton Sweeney the competition was run on his local venue Lough Sillan in County Cavan where fifteen juniors set up on the water keen to show their skills.

With just the one U23 category for this inaugural event there was a mix of ages on the bank with some top skills coming from anglers as young as 10. Top prizes to include rods, reels and accessories from Garbolino and Trabucco were there for the taking with every competitor receiving complimentary ground bait from Sensas Ireland.

A total 345 fish were caught with Aaron Hutchman, an U23 Irish Youth Team International member from East Belfast Corse Angling club taking the All Ireland title with his total weight of 3.780kg.  Aaron fished a tight match for small fish using a short paternoster, short hook length and a really small 20g feeder.

In second place came Steven Whyte, Carrickmacross Angling Club with 3.410kg followed by Ryan Watson, Killeshdandra Angling Club with 2.760kg.  Showing return on their junior development programme Carrickmacross Angling Club presented yet another member in the top five with Eoin Rogers fourth with his 2.340kg catch with Rob Kavanagh from Daingean Match Anglers, Co Offally coming in 5th place.
