Lanesboro/Ballyleague is in the running to hold the World Championship Angling Predator Boat 2016, the Leader has learned.
The news emerged on Monday just days after the area held an international coarse fishing event which proved hugely successful earlier this month.
The banks of the River Shannon were packed with fishermen, many of whom travelled from the UK and further afield to participate.
If successful in the bidding, the area could receive a financial boost to the tune of €250,000.
However, there is much to organise before that happens and one of the major areas for determination in the bid is accommodation…..
