Greg Latour of Tir na Spideog and guests enjoyed some good pike fishing over the last week and he reports on the recent Pike challenge on Loug Allua.
12/10/2015 : The 15th Lough Allua Pike Challenge is history….Due to 2 late cancellations, only 16 anglers fished this years 1day pike fishing competition in 6 boats on Lough Allua , Co. Cork . While last years winner Mike Herpers from Germany had a blank day , the heaviest bag category was won by a a lithuanian angler Rolis Novasinskas. Rolis caught 4 pike on his 8th LAPC , securing him a nice porcelain pike trophy . The longest pike of the day measured 103cm and was caught by myself . Due to brilliant weather (have a look at the photos…) , 4 anglers had a blank day , and Colm Brennan from Macroom took the honour of claiming the loser price category…..
19/10/2015: another personal best beaten…my german guest Frank caught this cracker of pike today on Lough Allua,Co.Cork . While trolling was not that great in the last couple of days , todays biggest fish of 105cm came on a trolled Westin brown trout in 15 ft. of water …
A days guiding on the lake can be booked for as little as €60,-, plus boat hire @ €35,- /day Te.026 – 47151
