This brings Blackwater Lodge to 72 fish for the month to date and 104 for the season so far. Ian tells us that prospects are superb for the coming days as more and more fish are running and high tides next week peak at 3.9m from Thursday to Saturday.

Updated 01 July:  Thirteen salmon to 8lb. were landed by just 7 anglers yesterday on the Blackwater Lodge beats – 10 on fly and 10 released. One angler caught and released 6 fish on single handed fly rod. This makes the month the best June on record at the fishery since 2002.

At Ballyduff Bridge Salmon Fishery reports that  Martin Cronin from Cork landed 3 grilse and lost one on a small cascade fly at Balincurrig on Sunday morning. Two fish were lost at Ballyduff Bridge also.

Marcus Bale landed a fine grilse in the Powdering Tub on the castle at Fortwilliam Fishery on Sunday Which brings their weekend’s catch to 6 fish.  Paul Whelan reports plenty of grilse running “which is nice to see and about time too”.
