26 April: The settled dry weather continued this week up until the weekend with bright sun and lovely spring conditions prevailing. This did not suit salmon angling but the weekend clouded over and brought rain and much cooler conditions. There were nice water levels in the river however. The river steadily fell over the week. The gauge read 0.59m on Monday and had fallen to 0.53m by Sunday. The fishery was fairly quiet and we have only heard of 5 salmon caught.

On Tuesday, John Gill had a very good day despite the bright conditions, catching 4 salmon from 6 to 12lb. He retained 1 fish and released the other 3 fish and also hooked and lost 2 other salmon, all on a Flying ‘C’ on from between the 2 bridges. On Saturday, Paul Johnston caught a 6lb grilse from the Sea Pool on a fly.
