The Loughs Agency will help local and visiting anglers celebrate the 2015 salmon fishing season in the Foyle catchment on the first day of the season – 1st March with events centred on the River Finn.

The Loughs Agency will also have information on and launch their ‘River Finn Angling Status’ report & ‘River Finn Development Plan’.

Following an opening ceremony on the river organised by Glenmore Estate fishery, the Loughs Agency event will inform visitors about the fishing available in the area, with representatives from local angling clubs and angling providers available on site at Finn Valley Leisure Centre, Stranorlar, starting at 10 am and running until 3 pm

Angling coaches will let those who haven’t tried fishing learn how to cast with spinner or fly. With their expert tuition everyone will soon be confident enough to want to try fishing for themselves, with all casters having a chance to earn a CAST award, the new angling qualification promoted by the Agency. Fly tiers and lure makers will show the flies and spinners that work on local rivers, and highlight that with catch and release regulations remaining in place these must use a single barbless hook.
