David Edwards, skipper of charter boat Tigger, is back again with an update on the charter boat fishing around Clonakilty…
Cod continue to show along with an increase in decent inshore Ling, most fish are in single figures but there are fish showing that are nudging 20lb which serve as a reminder not to over tighten your drags or try to lift large fish without using the net….you know who you are!
Tadgh O’Reilly from Shannonvale won the Captain Morgan Challenge competition for a good cause with the largest cod on Sunday of 8.5lb with Ali Draper of shannonvale landing the largest Pollack on the day of 7.5lb
Saturday saw the lads from Brinny Innishannon out on Tigger and Niall won the day with a fine inshore Ling in the high teens. Plenty of cod, mackerel and Pollack were among a wide range of species caught on the day

In more news from Clonakilty we have anu update on the bass fishing from Guide, Peter Aspinwall…
Harry Couch and his son Mark tried their hand once again in the channel yesterday afternoon. Harry’s superb. No need to bring the radio when he’s on the boat!
Whilst myself and Harry were singing our hearts out, Mark was getting the drag on his reel singing too. Five to the boat once more but one of them nudging the nine pound mark.

Tigger is a purpose built Procharter 31 angling boat, powered by a 330HP diesel engine and equipped with all necessary safety equipment. Reef and ground drift fishing is generally the most productive method with the potential to catch in excess of 20 species if you adapt your lures and baits accordingly. From mid June through to October it’s usually possible to target the blue shark fishing that is predominatly between 10-15 miles off the estuary. All sharks are released and recent seasons have seen larger species such as mako and threshers being sighted more frequently, so who knows what will come in 2014…
