Joe Byrne, Youth officer IFSA, reprots on the 9/11/15 Leinster Youth Qualifier 3rd leg fished at Arklow yesterday…

As the wind howled and kept the more sane of us indoors snuggled up on the couch with a cup of tea, the valiant Leinster Youths descended on Arklow beach, hoods up and boots strapped tight. Conditions weren’t ideal with gusting winds, heavy rain and large swells rolling there way menacingly towards the beach.

Conditions were tough!

None-the-less the Juniors trudged on, producing good quality fish from challenging conditions with many anglers with 10 or more fish after the competition end. A broad array of species were caught, with nice codling, whiting, dab, flounder, rockling along with others.

This competition of any, proved to be a great learning curve for our anglers, as producing well rounded and versatile anglers is crucial to success at Interprovincial level.
