Lisdoonvarna Fanore Sea Angling Club held their Lisdoonvarna/Fanore bass competition 2015 on Sunday. The venue was Fanore beach. they have an unusual twist in the format of this competition in that a bass must be caught to win. If not it is fished again. There was glorious weather, with everyone in T-Shirts, a good days fishing and plenty of good sized flounder but unfortunately no bass. So they must do it all over again. That’s the rules!

Ken O’Neill in IFI Limerick reports that the sea angling has not been that good along the Clare coast recently and that rock fishing is poor enough, despite the good weather conditions. However , as reported above, there are plenty of flounder being caught at the moment.

The success of the club is attributed to the dedication of its members past and present and the loyal support of the local residents and sponsors who regularly support the events being organised by the club. The members are also conscious of the fact that in the Fanore area, there are some of the best Sea angling waters in Europe and this must be protected. The club has always been, and will continue to be at the forefront of promoting and protecting Sea Angling and the environment in this area.
