Congratulations to Steve Turner on winning leg 2 of the 2015 Galway Buccaneers SAC Master Boat Angler competition sponsored by Galway Bay Fishing. Anglers on the day were greeted with a misty fog which burned off as the day progressed, calm seas and good fishing aboard the Maighdean Mara with skipper Kevin MacGabhann.

Fishing was consistently good over the course of the day with Conor Graham and Steve Turner picking up a nice mix of species on the first drift. It wasn’t long before all anglers were catching with David Spokes picking up some nice Bullhuss along with plenty of Dogs and later some nice Cod which saw him take 3rd place. John Peel was tipping away nicely on the quiet and notching up 6 different species along the way. Beside John was Noel Griffith who had some nice Ling included in his 5 species. Denis Healy had plenty of decent Cod among his catch. Conor Graham had 8 species on his way to second place including a good few Pollack which for once were scarce perhaps bullied by the good numbers of Cod.

The competition went down to the wire with several anglers in the hunt right up until the last hour. However Steve Turner managed to add a couple of extra species on the last drift to push him clear of the field and secured the win finishing with 10 species.
Plenty of fish were caught on the day with some good sized Cod including a 10 lber by Conor Mountaine. There were over 14 difference species caught on the day they were: Coalfish, Cod, Ling, Dogfish, Bullhuss, Pollack, Red Gurnard, Whiting, Poor Cod, Pouting, Ballan and Cuckoo Wrasse as well as non counting Mackerel.
Thanks as always to our Skipper Kevin MacGabhann for looking after us and providing us with a great days fishing with plenty of variety. ~ The Committee
