Lough Arrow saw a very good week with all methods (wet fly, dry fly and dap) producing good catches. The mayfly is up on the lake with good numbers of anglers out and a lot of small to medium sized fish being returned. The Lake also produced some better fish between 3 lbs. and 5 lbs. mainly to dry flies.
Gregory Doherty, Northern Ireland, had 5 fish, heaviest at 2.5 lbs., Martin McDaid boated 8, best at 3 lbs. and John Murray caught five (3 released), heaviest at 2 lbs. Roderick & Caroline Murphy and sons James & Humphry from Kilkenny had about 20 for the week, heaviest 2.5 lbs.
Tomasz Paluszkiewicz, Sligo, and his friend, Marciej Osmanski, visiting from Poland fishing out of John Hargadons Lough Arrow Boat Hire boated 15 trout on wet & dry flies over 4 days. Their heaviest fish was a super fish estimated at 5 lbs. (60 cm). All their fish were returned.
