Marlene Mc Laughlin reports from Cashel Trout Fishery :
Beautiful autumnal weather on the way and anglers are in their element catching big fighting rainbow and trying their best to lure them to the bank.
Derry’s Brian and Ciaran Kelly bagged two for home which weighed a total of 8lb 5ozs while Limavady’s Ken Foster released eight and lost at least five more which fell to his hedgehog pattern. Eddie Manthorpe (Coleraine) and Peter Clarke (Portstewart) released six between them with Peter taking the majority which fell to gold head pheasant tails and buzzers.
Donegal’s Shaun O’Doherty released two after an unsettled start using a wee dry and a wee buzzer. Maghera’s Declan Bradley accompanied by his friend Eunan Mc Aleese bagged three each for home weighing a total of 9lb 9ozs. They also released one more after the bag limit was killed. These two anglers were using sedges and nymphs. Jim Russell and Danny Walker (Newtownabbey and Monkstown) did extremely well also banking eleven magnificent trout between them averaging 2.5lb apiece which fell to the Kate McLaren wet fly and wee sedges. Newcomer, Davy Smyth (Desert martin) accompanied by his mate Jonathan Selfridge (Maghera) landed themselves two real beauties for home weighing 4lb each which fell to klinkhammers and an orange blob.
Congratulations to all and tightlines!!
