Aidan Curran of Gormanston and District Anglers reports that Kevin McGuire did a four hour session on Monday morning 3rd August on the Wavin Lake. Conditions were windy with plenty of waves. He had 8 fish in total, all in terrific condition, all caught on old patterns gold ribbed hare’s ear and pheasant tail flies. All fish returned safely for another angler to catch.
Kevin McGuire had also visited his pal Jim McKeever on July 24th. Kevin reported that they both fished epoxy buzzers today and had some cracking fish. They finished with a total of 9 bows and lost a couple.
Gormanston and District Anglers Club have the exclusive fishing rights on the Wavin Lake which is located 0.5 miles Dublin side of Balrothery, North Co. Dublin. The lake is very accessible and is only 2 miles north of Balbriggan and approximately 15 minutes from Dublin Airport. The Wavin Lake covers approximately 26 acres and is stocked with rainbow trout. The Association promotes fly fishing and there are 6 boats on the lake for members. There are also facilities for disabled fishermen and spinning on one shore only is allowed. There is a daily bag limit of 2 fish but the Association supports a policy of catch and release on this Lake.
