Ireland’s sea anglers have been competing at the highest international level of the sport of angling for years. In the last two years, Irish sea anglers have taken part in a large number of international events including the Sea Angling Home Nations Shore 2013, U16, U21, Ladies and Men’s in Wales, the Home Nations Boat, Stornoway, the World Boat Competition 2013 in Portugal, the World Shore Championships in Spain, the World Boat Championships in England 2014, the Home Nations Shore 2014, U16, U21, Ladies and Men’s in Scotland and the World Shore Men’s 2014 in France.
On Saturday 28th March, at the Westmanstown Sports Centre in Dublin, angling’s national governing body, the Angling Council of Ireland (ACI) and affiliated federations, presented awards to sea anglers who had represented Ireland at international level during the last two years.
The awards were presented in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by each of the sea anglers to Irish angling as an international competitor in each of the represented shore angling and boat angling disciplines. Among the recipients were Ireland’s men’s, ladies and junior sea angling teams who have achieved great success at the highest international level of the sport, with a number of them taking gold, silver and bronze medals in many top international competitions.
Ireland’s sea anglers have taken many prestigious international angling titles over the years, demonstrating that Irish sea anglers are among the best in the world and can compete at all levels with the best anglers in the world.
