Lake O’Flynn & District Angling Association recently held the Michael Malone perpetual Cups in what could only be described as awful weather conditions.
However this did not deter the hardy souls who ventured out with enthusiasam for the prize.
22 anglers competed and the trout responded to a variety of fly patterns on the day with a good catch recorded.

1st place and winner Michael Malone Cup (2015) was Michael McDermott, Castlerea with a good fish = 3lb 00.3 oz.
2nd Gerry Murray Athleague 2lb 05.4 oz.
3rd Feichan McMurrough Sligo 2lb 03.0 oz.
Heaviest boat catch
1st Andrew Boyd & John Somerville (8 fish) for 14lb 06.2 oz.
2nd Roger Fowler & Julie Gerry (8 fish) for 12lb 15.8 oz.
3rd Derek Madden & John Hanmore (6 fish) for 9lb 09.8 oz.

Lough O’Flynn is a 300 acre rich limestone lake located in Co Roscommon just north of Ballinlough village. There are good stocks of wild and stocked brown trout averaging about 1.5 lbs with fish to 3 to 4lbs sometimes caught.
