Inniscarra Lake TDL report on the start of their three weeks of match fishing on Inniscarra Lake which started on Saturday with the O’Callaghan’s Open ahead of the Celtic Shield 3-Day festival.

27th August: Great fishing on Inniscarra today! The Garden Centre section produced the best weights and today’s winner Trev Platt with 27.180kg.
Second was John Bohane with 23.780 and third was Chris Rushton with 19.340 all from the Garden Centre.
Rooves Bay section fished well and we hope with some bait in the Graveyard section will pick up for the Celtic Shield 3-day match commencing tomorrow.

The prize giving for the day took place at O’Callaghans Bar & Guest House in the morning.

28th August: Celtic Shield Day One : Pete Townsend, Swindon got off to a great start for the Celtic Shield 3 Day festival which commenced today with 23.340kg of roach and hybrids on the pole at Rooves Bay. There was great fishing all round with the Garden Centre section once again producing for second place Alistair Ogilvy with 20.100kg and 3rd George Knight with 18.500kg.

O’Callaghans Bar & Guest House, Coachford provide €1,000 sponsorship for this festival.

30th August: Celtic Shield Day 2: Alister Ogilvey leads the Celtic Shield after two days with just over 38kgs!

Great fishing again yesterday with James Carty, Thatchers taking the top weight of the day with 23.600kg from Rooves Bay followed closely by local angler Pawel Swistun wth 23.140 at the Garden Centre Stretch. The third weight of the day coming again from Rooves Bay for Paul Davies of Shrewsbury with 20.800kg.

O’Callaghans Bar & Guest House, Coachford Co. Cork provide €1,000 sponsorship for this festival which closes today.

Inniscarra - 30th August 2016

31st August 2016 The fantastic fishing continued for day three of the festival with Julian Kendrick winning the day at Rooves Bay with 19.760kg placing him first in the festival. In second place today was local angler Pawel Swistun with 17.260 and in third Josh Smith with 16.740. Josh is an English Youth International with the Under 20’s sampling the venue ahead of the Youth Championships next year. Well done Josh.

Julian of County Offaly wins the festival with a top weight of 51.900kg. Just ahead of Alistair Ogilvy, last years Celtic Shield and Vintners Cup winner with 49.140 and in 3rd was local man Pawel Swistun with 45.380. .

At the presentation this evening Tommy Lawton, Inniscarra TDL thanked all the anglers for supporting the festival praising Eileen Martin and O’Callaghans Bar & Guest House of Coachford Co. Cork for their on-going support and sponsorship.as well as acting as the anglers HQ throughout the year. Thanks too to Mike Stone, Kevin Gray and Trev Platt for their assistance and to Peter Turner our photographer.

Everyone is now looking forward to the next three day event the Vintners Cup where the winner will additionally win a week’s stay at O’Callaghans.
