Peter Cunningham from Drogheda Angling Centre has passed on a report from Jim Hamill who had on an impromptu outing over the weekend on Lough Muckno in Co Monaghan. Jim tells us that he nipped out to the lake just before tea time on Saturday to try out an intermediate line and a new tube-fly. After a number of casts with his intermediate 10WF line and 9 ft rod and a green and gold tube fly he was into a nice pike estimated to be well into the teens. After a good battle, the fish was landed, carefully unhooked and released unharmed back to the lake. Jim had plenty of little helpers with him in the car as can be seen from the photo.
