Billy Downes reports that as of Monday 9th May water levels are above 1m at the Laune Bridge; perfect water for all methods. During the past week a few good fish were met, lost and landed. A visiting angler from Holland landed a fish of 10 lbs at O’Connor’s. Michel Allonsuis from France landed a lovely Laune fish of 9 lbs on the fly, a Cascade.

Noel Hickey lost a great fish after a 30 minute struggle but was compensated with a 7 lb bar of silver in the next run down at Johnston’s. Graham Daws visiting Lispole from the UK managed to meet but lose a very good fish also, fishing the end of Tom Johnston’s.
Danny Joy and Colm Heffernan continue to enjoy good sea trout fishing on the fly landing fish up to 2.5lbs.

As I always say if you get the timing right there is always a chance of a fish, make the best of it before the commercial nets start on the 12th.
More sea trout are also still in prospect, most likely spinning or worm but lots have also been caught on fly already.
Thats a wrap…

80 hours of voluntary work by members on behalf of the Association and indeed our ‘precious’ environment. Estimated to be a tonne of bale wrap collected from 2 km of banks.
