Angling guide Michael Flanagan reports on the perch and pike fishing at Lough Derravaragh…

It was a lovely calm Morning last Saturday on Derravaragh and just ideal for Jigging for Perch. Well you know what they say never count your chickens before they hatch, and the Perch had no interest in taking my lures. I did get a few hits, but there was no aggression in the takes, and I lost any fish I hooked.

The Derravaragh pike also were reluctant to feed, but the lake is dropping and in time some more super pike will be boated on Derravaragh. I ventured over to Coolure Bay where we are told it’s some years since water was in the old Coolure boathouse.
