Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 6th to Sunday 12th June 2016.
Lough Melvin fished well this week despite the very bright weather and low water conditions. There were around 12 salmon caught trolling. Three of the boats out of the Rossinver Fishery on Friday recorded a salmon apiece with former fishery manager Bill McNeary accounting for one of these weighing 4lb. Trout fishing has been very good on occasion through the week with most rods targeting the Sonaghan on the deep water drifts and boats reporting catches of up to 8 good Sonaghan. Garrison Lough Melvin Angling club hosted the Ronnie Cox Cancer Research Competition on Saturday. The competition was very well attended with 57 boats venturing out. Catches were fairly good and the winning pair, Darren Maguire and Gene Harron, won with 6 trout.
