Charter boat fishing from the Shannon Estuary and along the Clare coast is picking up now that the water temperature is that bit closer to 10C…
09 April: A bit chilly early today on board Lady Gwen II but the lad’s weren’t long warming up as there was plenty of pollack and mackerel about.
16 April: First day back fishing for the Clare Dragoon. Luke Aston tells us there was a good sign of small sprat around and a lot of sea birds feeding on them. No sign of mackerel though yet. From the get go Luke and his anglers were catching lots of pollack and coalfish. The average size was small at 3 to 4 lbs but they had a few to 8lbs.
17 April: The Clare Dragoon was out again and it was a lovely, calm day with just a light westerly breeze. Still cool according to Luke who measured the water temperature at just 9’c. They picked up a few mackerel in the morning at the Loop and headed west again. Fishing was not as steady as yesterday but still good with some nice ling and pollack.
Lady Gwen II was out too on Sunday. They had herring’s, mackerel, ling, coalies, and some very nice polllack. The calm seas and sunshine were well appreciated here too.
Go fishing…
